Destiny 2 is currently one of the most played games on Steam and across all platforms, and while there might be a specific reason for that, it's also true that Bungie has been steadily improving its space magic looter shooter for a long time. The sci-fi FPS did one of the most interesting 180s in the recent history of video games, and while this didn't happen all of a sudden, it's a process that started over three years ago with the soon-to-be-vaulted Forsaken expansion, in 2018. Despite its four years, Destiny 2 is now in a state where its narrative is at its best, and the game is transitioning from the Beyond Light and Year 4 era into The Witch Queen expansion and Year 5.

As for gameplay, there are many peaks in Destiny 2, ranging from its acclaimed Raids to the now reworked Trials of Osiris for PVP, while also including another high-end PVE activity in the form of Grandmaster Nightfall Strikes. The Grandmaster season has finally begun again in Destiny 2's Season of the Lost, and the very first GM to be featured was the Hollowed Lair Strike with its mini Screebs as its signature modifier. Even though this is the right direction for Grandmaster Nightfalls to be headed towards in the future, this specific GM is not one of the easiest to be found in the game. That record belongs to a few other Nightfall events in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: Grandmaster Nightfall - Lake of Shadows

Lake of Shadows is not exactly the easiest GM in Destiny 2, despite the fact that most players refer to it as one of the fastest Strikes and regular Nightfalls in the whole game. Lake of Shadows can usually be completed in much less time than other similar content, with a few runs of the normal Strike and lower difficulty Nightfalls lasting somewhere between five and ten minutes. The GM version is a completely different beast, though, and its many Taken Hobgoblins and Champions can easily annihilate the most experienced teams with a few precision hits.

Still, Lake of Shadows is also one of the most "cheesable" GMs in Destiny 2, thanks to how Champions and hard-hitting enemies can be killed upon spawning, thus making the activity more trivial than it's supposed to be. An example comes from Destiny 2 YouTuber and player Antivist, who achieved a 6:37-minute run with an efficient Fireteam.

Destiny 2: Grandmaster Nightfall — Inverted Spire

Inverted Spire is considered by many as one of the easiest GM Nightfalls in Destiny 2, mainly because its boss can be killed in one or two phases, skipping the third and most dangerous. There are also a decent amount of enemies in most areas, and density can help both with clear speed and ammo economy, depending on the mods used. What makes this Nightfall much easier than most in GM difficulty is that almost every encounter can be engaged from far away, thus allowing players to stay safe throughout.

This is particularly helpful with the Vex room, where Hobgoblin Champions spawn far away and come with Barriers to deal with, so weapons like scout rifles, sniper rifles, and rocket launchers are amazing counters. The absence of Overload Champions likely helps, as those are the hardest to stun effectively due to how the animations function in Destiny 2, especially Overload Captains. This Nightfall is absent from the rotation for Season of the Lost, but it was the easiest one last Season, allowing for great farming weekends when it was available.

Destiny 2: Grandmaster Nightfall — Devil's Lair

Devil's Lair is considered to be the easiest GM in Destiny 2, or maybe second only to Arms Dealer for a few reasons. Considering that Devil's Lair is part of the current rotation for Season of the Lost alongside Lake of Shadows, this is a good Nightfall to farm when it comes around, particularly because other Nightfalls this Season include Proving Grounds and The Corrupted. There is also an interesting little detail about this Nightfall; the music in the boss room for Devil's Lair can sync with Chrysura Melo's shots, seeing how the original theme plays at 120 beats-per-minute, whereas the auto rifle shoots 360 rounds-per-minute.

The reason why this is not exactly the easiest GM is that it can be quite long, no matter how efficient players are. This is due to long walks in between rooms, and some of them being either very large open space areas with enemies scattered around, or areas where enemies spawn in waves only when the previous one is entirely dealt with. Regardless, it features fairly balanced encounters where a little coordination can take players a long way. The Fallen Walker encounter can be the only truly annoying bit of the GM Nightfalls, seeing how many snipers there are in the area, alongside Overload and Barrier Champions becoming priorities over Brigs.

Destiny 2: Grandmaster Nightfall — Arms Dealer

arms dealer

Arms Dealer is likely the easiest of the bunch, simply because players can progress at their own pace, and no encounter is forced onto them unless they trigger it. This means there are no overlapping encounters with tough combatants, such as Elites and Champions, and each of them can be dealt with rather safely from a distance. On average, Cabal Champions are also less dangerous to deal with than Fallen ones, further making this GM a less scary experience.

Lastly, the boss for the Arms Dealer GM is very easy to rapidly dispose of with supers and cheesing shots from the elevator. Weapons like rocket launchers and Izanagi's Burden are incredible picks for this Nightfall, especially if they show up in the seasonal array of Champion mods. Supers like Thundercrash with Cuirass of the Falling Star or Chaos Reach with Geomag Stabilizers are incredible too, melting tanks and the boss at the earliest convenience. Overall, this list might change over time, especially if EDZ content is eventually vaulted, but as it stands, Arms Dealer is the best GM to farm in Destiny 2 whenever it shows up.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
